What do we do?

CPAI is an NGO devoted to the wellbeing and upliftment of People with Different Abilities (PDAs). It is a thought child of Padma Bhushan awardee, late Dr. N.H Wadia and late Dr. V. Kini whose daughter was also a PDA. The Cerebral Palsy Association of India was started in 1968 to care for many other people like her.

Today our centres house 80 people; and addresses not only their educational needs but also makes efforts towards their holistic development. CPAI works earnestly towards the rehabilitation and welfare of PDAs for their advancement without any discrimination of sex, class, and creed.

Project Shikshan

The power of education is you can never unlearn what you know.

Education is one of the strongest pillars on which a person can sustain, a community can be built, and a nation can lead. We want to lead our underprivileged children towards a better life, and nothing else than education can be the right way.

We have identified a need to support. Many children have lost their earning parent, or the earning parent has lost their job during COVID-19. In such a circumstance, children have to disengage with their studies, finding it difficult to secure admission or pay fees. The worst affected are the single mother families.

We aim to support 50 such underprivileged beneficiaries with our Shikshan initiative, by funding a child’s entire schooling expense. An educated child could lead a fulfilled life and can also take care of their family.

We intend to extend our support through-

Financial educational support to children deprived of school or dropouts.

Skills share for independent development and community growth.

From Our Community

Success Stories

We pride ourselves that our indulgence and teachings have
brought our PDAs’ new hope and confidence.

During the Covid Period

  • With the help of parents, we were able to organise many online activities for our students. We conducted an interschool painting competition for the special students. These activities had very good participation.

  • We also conducted many indoor activities for our students with the help of their parents to keep them active.

  • We regularly talked and counselled our students.

  • We distributed Ration Kits during the crucial times of Covid-19 to the under-privileged families of our students, and also transgender people and people who are self-employed on an everyday wage. We conducted the activity at all our centres in Mumbai, Lucknow & Bhopal.
